Inflation in Pakistan continued to rise, with the weekly inflation rate increasing by 0.49% during the week ended August 20, while the annual inflation rate was recorded at 9.66%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the latest weekly inflation report released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the prices of several essential commodities increased during the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On a weekly basis, onion prices surged by 14.17%, while petrol became 3.77% more expensive and chicken prices increased by 3.35%. Garlic prices rose by 2%, while the price of gram pulse increased by 0.63%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, prices of several commodities also declined during the week. Egg prices fell by 5.78%, diesel became 5.15% cheaper, while tomato prices declined by 4.99%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On an annual basis, onion prices recorded the highest increase, rising by 132.52%. Tomato prices increased by 93.21%, wheat flour by 62.25%, LPG by 51.69% and diesel by 33.08%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report also showed annual declines in the prices of several commodities. Potato prices fell by 30.01%, sugar by 19.10%, chicken by 17.68% and eggs by 17.41%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The latest figures indicate that overall inflationary pressures remain elevated, although prices of some essential food and fuel items recorded declines on both weekly and annual comparisons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
