Iran has warned the United States that it could target American oil and gas interests in the region if Iranian assets and energy infrastructure come under attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iranian Parliament Speaker and senior negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said in a post on X that the region\u2019s oil and gas production network is extensive and exposed, adding that American energy companies operating across the region would also be vulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ghalibaf warned that Iran would retaliate if its assets were targeted. He also claimed that Tehran had already demonstrated its ability to respond to attacks, referring to the condition of U.S. military bases, although he did not identify any specific base or provide evidence for the claim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Iranian official\u2019s warning came after the United States threatened to target Iranian oil tankers if Tehran attacked American naval vessels. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Washington could destroy Iranian oil tankers in response to attacks on U.S. Navy ships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The latest exchange of threats comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, particularly around the Gulf and the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
