England were bowled out for 409 in their first innings on the third day of the Leeds Test, giving them a 238-run lead over Pakistan.
England resumed play with a 195-run lead and went on to score 409 runs in 89.5 overs before losing their final wicket.
Harry Brook was England’s top scorer with 91 runs, while Jordan Cox contributed 73, Joe Root scored 66 and Dan Lawrence made 51.
Pakistan had earlier been dismissed for 171 in their first innings. Abdullah Shafique top-scored with 61 runs, followed by Imam-ul-Haq with 42 and captain Salman Ali Agha with 21. Khurram Shahzad scored 14, while Mohammad Rizwan contributed 12 runs.
For Pakistan, left-arm spinner Ali Usman was the standout bowler, claiming five wickets. He became the first left-arm spinner to take a five-wicket haul for Pakistan in England.
Khurram Shahzad took three wickets, while Mohammad Abbas and Mohammad Ali claimed one wicket each.
With a 238-run first-innings lead, England have put Pakistan under significant pressure as the Test moves into its next phase.
