Two Turkish-flagged commercial vessels collided in the Sea of Marmara, leaving 10 crew members missing. Search and rescue operations are currently underway to locate the missing individuals.
According to Turkish media reports, the accident occurred around 18 miles off the coast when the vessels Alsu and Togberk Imamoglu collided with each other. The incident has raised concerns over the safety of the crew members aboard the vessels.
Reports indicate that the Alsu was carrying approximately 2,999 tonnes of engine oil, while the Togberk Imamoglu was loaded with around 4,199 tonnes of steel coils at the time of the collision.
Following the accident, communication with the Togberk Imamoglu was reportedly lost. Authorities immediately launched search and rescue efforts to locate the missing crew members.
Rescue teams are continuing operations in the surrounding waters, searching for any survivors and assessing the condition of both vessels. Authorities are also expected to investigate the circumstances that led to the collision.
