Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar has announced that a peaceful march will be held on September 27, saying that people want to move away from the existing political status quo and seek democratic change.
Speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar said the march would not be organized for publicity or entertainment but to express public demands through a peaceful and democratic process. He clarified that government resources would not be used for the march and expressed hope that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other opposition parties would also participate.
The PTI chairman said people were tired of political tensions and divisions and wanted change through democratic means. He added that the public was also demanding fresh elections and that political issues should be resolved through constitutional and democratic processes.
Commenting on the issue of creating new provinces, Barrister Gohar said the matter required broad consultation and warned that rushing into decisions could have negative consequences.
Barrister Gohar also expressed concern over the health of PTI founder Imran Khan and said that an appeal had been made to the Chief Justice for an early hearing of the relevant case due to his health concerns.
He further criticized the alleged police violence against students during the nursing college incident, calling it unfortunate. According to Barrister Gohar, the concerned SHO has been suspended and peaceful protesters should not be subjected to violence.
The PTI chairman also criticized the Punjab chief minister’s remarks regarding provinces and demanded that the statement be withdrawn.
